NATURAL VS. AGGLOMERATED CORK

Currently we offer Natural cork on sizes from 000 (6.3x4mm) to size 3 (14.3x10.7mm) and agglomerated for sizes between 4 (15.9x11.9mm) and 57N (210x200mm).
For businesses buying at volume, we can supply either type of cork, by placing a bespoke order, of whatever size they require.
It usually comes down to consistency and cost as much as appearance and final use.

Natural Cork is cut from a single piece of cork. Genuine natural cork, selected for its attractive appearance, elasticity and traditional sealing properties. Ideal for premium, decorative and natural-looking applications. It has the classic look that buyers associate with wine and spirits, but as a natural material, it carries some size and appearance variations, piece to piece.

Typical Applications:
Premium bottles
Spirits and wine
Decorative jars
Ceramics and pottery
Craft and gift products
Products where natural appearance is important

Agglomerated Cork - Manufactured from granulated natural cork, agglomerated stoppers offer excellent dimensional consistency and reliable performance at an economical price and is made from cork granules bound together with a food-safe adhesive, essentially a reconstituted cork. It’s more uniform in shape and performance, has less variation in oxygen transmission than natural cork, carries a much lower risk of cork taint, and is typically the more cost-effective option for larger production runs.
It also makes good use of cork industry by-product, which matters if sustainability credentials are part of your sourcing story.
Both are 100% food-safe. If you’re not sure which is right for your product, tell us what you’re bottling and the volumes involved, and we’ll recommend a starting point.
Agglomerated cork is largely used in glass jars, terrariums, demi-johns, biscuit tins, ceramics, industrial applications, DIY and craft projects, amongst many other uses. Also ideal for larger volume requirements.

Typical applications:
Jars and containers
Craft and hobby products
Ceramics
Industrial applications
Laboratory/general-purpose closures
High-volume applications where price and consistency matter
