Measure the inside of the neck, not the outside
Cork sizes are quoted as top diameter × bottom diameter × length. You want the bottom diameter to be a little wider than the opening you are sealing, so the cork grips as it compresses. If you are between two sizes, go up.

The material
Harvested without felling a single tree
Cork is stripped from the bark of the cork oak, never the trunk itself. The tree is left standing and the bark regrows over the following nine years, ready to be harvested again. A single oak can be worked this way for two centuries.
It is why cork is vegan, biodegradable, recyclable and genuinely renewable — and why it has sealed bottles for four hundred years without needing improving on.
