Fired openings are never exact
Clay shrinks as it fires, and rarely evenly. Measure the finished piece rather than working from the thrown dimension, and measure across two axes — an opening that is 40mm one way may be 42mm the other.
Corks for ceramics and pottery
Tapered corks for thrown bottles, lidded pots, ginger jars and glazed vessels. Fired openings are rarely perfectly round, so a tapered cork is more forgiving than a rigid stopper.

Because a tapered cork wedges rather than slots in, it accommodates an opening that is slightly out of round. That is why cork suits studio pottery better than a machined stopper.
A thick glaze inside the neck can take a millimetre or more off the opening. Measure after glazing, not before.
Prices exclude VAT, volume discounts apply automatically at checkout, and there is no minimum order.
